Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, and The Music Yard at SouthBound is making a whole weekend of it. Two nights, two very different kinds of dance music, and one rule that matters: leave the car at home. Here’s everything you need before you head to 2433 South Blvd.

Friday, Oct. 30: BONEYARD HALLOWEEN ft. DJ Seinfeld

Friday belongs to DJ Seinfeld, the alias of Swedish producer Armand Jakobsson. He broke out with his 2016 single “U” and released the album Mirrors in 2021. The event listing promises “house, breaks, jungle, garage and left-field dance music,” and his résumé backs it up, with sets at Coachella, DC10 and Glastonbury. Charlotte’s Lex Lonca and Probably Will are also on the bill, according to the event poster.

Expect emotional, slightly lo-fi house that can turn into breakbeats without warning. Costumes are encouraged, not required.

Saturday, Oct. 31: Desert Hearts – Haunted Hearts w/ Marbs & Mikey Lion

On Halloween night, the Desert Hearts crew brings its Haunted Hearts party to The Yard. Mikey Lion and Marbs are two of the co-founders of the collective, which started with a 200-person party in the Mojave Desert in November 2012. Its tagline is “House. Techno. Love.” The organizers promise art installations, performances, vendors and custom stage design.

Plan your outfit. The listing says that “for DH fans, dressing up isn’t an option, it’s a requirement.”

Sunday, Nov. 1: Nothing scheduled

The Music Yard has no event listed for Sunday, so rest up.

Know before you go

  • Don’t park at the Taco Bell next door. The venue says they will tow.
  • Take the train or a rideshare. New Bern station on the LYNX Blue Line is less than half a mile away, and the event listing names it as the stop to use. Uber and Lyft also work.
  • Use the South Blvd. entrance (box office).
  • No large bags, no dogs or pets, and no outside food or drinks.
  • Restrooms are inside “The Studio,” behind the stage. Food and drinks are sold at walk-up and table-side service.
  • The smoking area is near the street at the back of the venue. Put your gum in the trash, not on the turf.

Coming up at The Yard

  • Fri., Nov. 6: HARBOUR
  • Sat., Nov. 7: SunSquabi
  • Fri., Nov. 13: Natalia Roth

The full schedule is on the Music Yard events calendar.

The Uptown Informer take

This is one of the better back-to-back weekends South End has had in a while, because the two nights don’t overlap much. Friday is for people who like their house music with some grit: broken beats, garage swing and the kind of melodic tracks that get a crowd singing along. Saturday is a full production, with a crew that has spent more than a decade building a community around costumes and four-on-the-floor. If you only make one night, choose based on whether you want a DJ’s set or a full-on party. If you can do both, take the Blue Line both nights.

Times, prices and lineups come from DICE and The Music Yard’s event calendar as of Oct. 29, 2026, and can change. Check your ticket before you go.
