An independent news and events guide for greater Charlotte.
Who it’s for
Uptown Informer is for people who live, work and go out anywhere in the Charlotte area and want one easy place to find out what’s happening. The name comes from where we started, but the coverage doesn’t stop at the I-277 loop.
What we cover
News, events, places to eat and drink, and nights out across greater Charlotte: Uptown, neighborhoods like South End, NoDa and Plaza Midwood, and nearby towns including Matthews, Huntersville, Concord, Fort Mill and Rock Hill.
Original reporting
We go after the stories the big outlets miss: the opening on your block, the town council vote that changes your commute, the event that isn’t on every list. Many of them start with a tip from someone in the community. We link to original sources, confirm event details with organizers before we publish, label sponsored content clearly and correct mistakes openly.
Who’s behind it
Uptown Informer is run by Ty, who lives in Charlotte.
