Huckleberry, NoDa’s cafe-by-day, cocktail-lounge-by-night, is drawing long waits

The team behind Happy Camper turned a 1913 house on North Davidson into one of the neighborhood’s busiest new hangouts.

One of NoDa’s newest spots is also one of its hardest tables to get.

Huckleberry, from Owen Carter and Michael Angelicola, the owners of neighborhood dispensary Happy Camper, opened quietly in September and has drawn big crowds since, Axios Charlotte reports. It doesn’t take reservations, and Axios says weekend waits have reached up to three hours. There’s now a daily waitlist you can join.

By day: The cafe runs Thursday through Sunday, 8 a.m.–3 p.m., with Night Swim coffee, tea and pastries from Fralinger Baking Company.

By night: According to Axios, beverage director Sean Teague’s cocktails mostly cost $13–$14, with a few at $17–$18. Wine and non-alcoholic drinks are available too. Food is mostly charcuterie with meats and cheeses from Orrman’s Cheese Shop, plus desserts from local partners. Look for huckleberries from Montana in the Huckleberry Mule and in the jam that comes with the boards.

The space: It’s a renovated 1913 house with indoor seating for about 50 and a patio and wine garden for about 60. Weekly events include Tuesday bingo and Wine Wednesdays.

If you go: 2824 N. Davidson St. Tuesday–Wednesday 5–10 p.m.; Thursday 8 a.m.–10 p.m.; Friday–Saturday 8 a.m.–midnight; Sunday 8 a.m.–8 p.m. Closed Monday.
