Charlotte’s house-music crowd has a big Halloween option this year. House Vibrations, a local house-music party crew that’s been throwing events since about 2020, is teaming up with the local crew BlackCat for a one-night takeover of Blume Studios, Blumenthal Arts’ warehouse venue in the Iron District, on Saturday, Oct. 31.
The party is called House Vibrations x BlackCat: Final Transmission. It runs from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m., and you have to be 21 or older, according to the event listing on Resident Advisor.
“We’re joining forces to create what may be CLT’s best Halloween so far!” the promoters wrote on the listing.
Who’s playing
The lineup on RA is all Charlotte-scene names:
- Kike Naranjo
- Ciel
- Johnny!
- Yona
- Gyro
Regulars will recognize a few of them. Johnny! and Yona have been on several House Vibrations bills, including its four-year anniversary party in October 2024 and last year’s Halloweekend party. Ciel played BlackCat’s Pink Party on the Trio patio in South End in August. Kike Naranjo, who is on the GangStarz roster of local DJs, has played South End spots such as Folia and Blue Door this year.
The House Vibrations website still said “Line up TBA” for this date as of Thursday afternoon. The RA listing is the most up-to-date source.
A giant Earth over the dance floor
The hook is the room. The promoters say the party will be built “around GAIA,” the giant suspended globe by British artist Luke Jerram. It’s 6 meters (about 20 feet) across and wrapped in high-resolution NASA imagery of Earth, according to the listing and the Charlotte International Arts Festival, which has also shown it.
If it looks familiar, that’s because Gaia has hung at Blume Studios before. Blumenthal Arts brought it back as a free feature when the venue opened in 2024 with “Space Explorers: THE INFINITE”. This time, it’s the backdrop for a dance party.
The listing teases the theme only as “… INCOMING: FINAL TRANSMISSION …” and doesn’t say more.
Who is House Vibrations?
House Vibrations is a Charlotte promoter that throws house-music parties. Some have been at secret locations. It held its three-year anniversary in October 2023 and its four-year party in October 2024, so the crew has been at it since about fall 2020. Its RA page lists parties at Broken Promises, PS Rooftop & Lounge, Bassment and its own “HV Warehouse,” plus a techno spinoff called Technø Vibrations.
Every listing ends with the same “house commandments”: respect the venue, clean up after yourself, respect everyone, take care of yourself and each other, and party responsibly.
BlackCat is a younger local crew. It co-hosted the Pink Party with Experiment B at Trio on South Mint Street on Aug. 30.
What is Blume Studios?
Blume Studios is Blumenthal Arts’ “reimagined creative warehouse” at 904 Post St. It sits in the Iron District, a 55.5-acre development between Uptown and South End on the old Charlotte Pipe and Foundry site, according to Blumenthal Arts.
Since it opened in 2024, the space has hosted Monopoly Lifesized, dinner theater and even pro wrestling. Right now, Stage 2 is running the immersive dinner show “Clue: Murder on the Menu.” Blumenthal describes the bigger Stage 1 as a room that “by night … fills with music, movement, cocktails and conversation.”
Tickets: Get there early, or pay more
Tickets are sold only through Resident Advisor. As of Thursday afternoon, every cheaper tier was sold out, including the $51.70 tier that Axios Charlotte listed. The only ticket left on RA was the $60 final release. More than 680 people had marked themselves as attending on RA.
Read the fine print before you go:
- Early-entry tickets expire at 10:30 p.m. If you have a “B4 10:30” ticket and show up later, you’ll pay the difference up to the door price.
- No re-entry.
- 21+ with a valid photo ID.
- All sales are final. The promoters say they aren’t responsible for tickets bought from third-party resellers.
The listing doesn’t mention a dress code or costume rule. It’s Halloween, though. Costumes were “strictly enforced” at House Vibrations’ Halloween party last year, so dressing up is a safe bet.
One more thing: Daylight saving time ends at 2 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, right when the music stops. Clocks fall back an hour, so plan your ride home with that in mind.
